Following on from the Sun’s story this morning that Dimitar Berbatov was caught signing a United shirt for a fan at Sofia airport in Bulgaria, we’ve been surprised that Tottenham fans haven’t been MORE vitriolic in their condemnation.
How would United fans have reacted had Cristiano Ronaldo added to his constant verbal flirtations with Real Madrid by signing one of their shirts?
Pretty bloody angrily, one imagines.
It may have been a casual gesture but Berbatov should probably have declined as diplomatically as possible.
We only hope for Berbatov’s sake that he actually manages to land his ‘dream’ move to United. It would look a bit daft if Fergie loses his patience and ships in Santa Cruz or Huntelaar instead.
The fan with the signed shirt wouldn’t be too gutted, however - Berbatov has the obligatory illegible squiggle signature of the footballer.
It could pretty much say anything.

I’m a spurs fan and i don’t care what he signs cause i have given up on him staying and now am just getting bored with it all. the sooner he leaves the better in my eyes.
Firstly, the photo of a signed shirt with a signature isnt Berbatov’s.
Secondly, for the man hailed as ‘the greatest living Bulgarian’ to turn down a fan asking him to sign a red shirt at a Bulgarian footie team signature walk, would be very wrong and uncharacteristic. The fact that The Sun started with the ‘one onlooked said….’ is laughable.
Unless Spurs get 28m +, I very much doubt Berbatov will leave.
Ignore the above numpty. No Berbatov is not going anywhere, that signature on that shirt is the closest Manure will ever get to him! As the US cool dudes are crippling your club into debt-oblivion baby, I believe the days of Manure winning things have come to an end this summer.

perhaps Spurs fans are less stupid than united fans in falling for a stunt orchestrated by the worst “newspaper” in the country.
As long as Man U stump up the £30m they can have him & he can sign a few more shirts…
If Tevez is worth £32m, Rio £29m… Then Berba must be worth £40m

If Berbatov’s ‘dream’ move is to Utd why did he turn them down 2 years ago and sign for Spurs? Sounds like it has more to do with money IMHO.

To be honest who cares? If united fans were to loose sleep over Ronaldo signing a Real Madrid shirt, then I suggest they get a life!
Football players sign what ever is thrown under their noses. For all we know, Berbatov thought that he maybe signing any old football shirt, because lets be honest, one red shirt looks much the same as any other.
As it stands Berbatov is a Tottenham player, and as long as utd refuse to stump up 30 million to Levy, he will remain a spurs player. All this crap about an unhappy player being kept at a club against his will, well im sorry Dimitar, lifes a bitch! Either play your heart out and fulfil your contarct for spurs, or rot on the bench, the choice is yours!
am i right in saying that Man USA need to spend £62m , if thery want to sign another striker, £30m for Berba & £32m for Tevez.. Do they actually have the money…. I think not.!!!!

I really don`t think is that big of a deal! Because if i have seen kaka or Messi ( like that will ever will happen too me ) walk by and i had a Man Utd jersey on i probably ask him too sign it on the jersey too. The only thing that`s different here is that berbatov has been linked too Man Utd long time now, I bet that if the man had given him a barcelona or boringpool jersey i will still have sign it.

This is nonsense, as a United fan I couldn’t care if Ronaldo signed a Madrid shirt, he’s a footballer, i’d be annoyed had he refused to sign a fans shirt no matter who he plays for or what club the shirt belongs to, if this is indeed a proper and legitimate thing that has happened and not a stunt, it’s all down to bad timing, there’s nothing else in it.
I’m a spurs fan and I couldn’t care less that he signed the shirt - I imagine he made the fan happy, which is good. As for the transfer itself; I want him to stay and hope he does, but expect he won’t. If he goes, well, it’ll be a shame but hardly a surprise. Hardly the end of the world either way.
Berbatov wants to play champions league football and challenge for the title - he would be just as happy to join Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan or AC Milan.
Man Utd are the only team to have made a bid and if Tevez is worth £32 million it makes £25 million for Berbatov a bargain. As a Spurs fan I am sick of hearing this story every day. Sign a new deal with Spurs or bugger off.
This further backs up my view that all man u fans are agressive, angry people (usually not from manchester or within 200miles) that have no idea about anything, the sun obviously paid someone to ask him to sign it, theyd have made a fuss if he didnt sign it, win win for them
Personally you can see what kind of a pickle he was in. It looks stroppy to not sign the shirt and who knows if he knew WHAT he was signing. If he knew it was a United shirt then he probably should have politely refused and cracked some sort of joke to the press…like Not Yet.
I agree it’s no big deal, but utd fans would have been mega pisssed off had the same story featured Ronnie in an airport in Manchester or Madrid

really not bothered about this at all. doesnt change the situation with regards to the transfer, we all know he wants to go but utd wont pay up. i think he was just doing the polite thing by signing the shirt, i would be more dissapointed in him if he played the big man saying hes too important to sign autographs…im more surprised that united fan wanted a tottenham players autograph on a united shirt, weird!!
It is a MAN UTD shirt…if you goto the sun website and look at the slideshow on the story…u can see MUFC on the arm of the shirt that he is signing
I’m sick of all berb stuff how about this rather than sell berb to Manchester united will do a swap for Rooney on basis that at spurs a proper football club he’d be able to development his game and become king pin for both spurs and England set-up rather than mis-fit who not sure if he’s either striker or midfielder he can be next gazza …..
