Berbatovgate: The Real Hypocrite Is Levy NOT Fergie…

Yesterday we analysed why we considered the Berbatov deal to be all but done, noting Fergie’s canny grin in the airport lounge en route to South Africa.
For weeks everyone knew that United were interested in signing Berbatov but until Ferguson’s brief but seeemingly assured words, United - the club at least, if not the fans and bloggers - had , or so we assumed, kept their counsel.
It is this - but not only this - that makes Levy’s splenetic tirade on the Spurs official website last night utterly mystifying.
Premiminary unofficial contact between agents, players and clubs always happens in the run up to possible transfers. Every player, manager, chief exec, club and fan knows this - Spurs knows it, Daniel Levy knows it.
In fact Spurs do it, Daniel Levy does it.
How can Daniel Levy have the brass neck to slap up such a self-indulgent, indignant complaint on the Spurs website?
Here’s a club that practically stole John Bostock from Crystal Palace, courting and distracting the player much against the wishes of his club and their floppy-haired, tanning- salon-aficionado chairman.
How can Levy have the bare-faced sanctimony to complain about United’s lack of respect and decorum when they shunted Martin Jol out of a job in the most cack-handed and disrespectful fashion and stole Juande Ramos away from Sevilla?
How can Levy draw any equivalence between United’s offer - no doubt simply faxed to their Spurs executive office - and the relentless campaign of conjecture, rumour, mind-games and arrogance spewed forth from Ramon Calderon, Marca and Real Madrid
Given the fact that Spurs will inevitably accept some offer for Berbatov and Keane, if not United and Liverpool’s, the vehemence of Levy’s tirade is frankly ridiculous.
We fully accept that the Spurs board and the Spurs fans are angry and disappointed that their two best strikers want to leave.
We were angry that Ronnie wanted to leave - the difference is most of us saw sense and came round to the conviction that United would be better off without him - mysteriously Ferguson doesn’t agree and it looks like Ronaldo is here to stay (for another season at least.)
Levy’s hissy fit only serves to inflame a situation that seemed previously inflammable. The only parties the ensuing conflagration will consume are him and the Spurs board.

you really need to check your facts on our capture of bostock and ramos. we know the pl and fa will turn ablind eye but you should behit with a point deduction.
Levy’s comments on the Berbatov affair do not convince me that he is anything other than a hard nosed play actor. His moralising especially seems out of place. He poached Seville’s manager when it suited him, and is very much into this sort of game himself. His hard stance is all about money, and the real hypocrisy lies in his attempt to make it seem a matter of principle. The indications are that there is dialogue between the two clubs, there is a process of hard bargaining in course, and Mr Levy perhaps (to put it kindly) is simply out to get leverage in this regard. SAF is much too experienced a hand to have spoken as he did if there had not in fact been official dealings between the two clubs. So - come off it Levy.
Well said author. I’m glad the issue of Bostok has been mentioned, Levy blatantly tapped him up and made a derisory offer full in the knowledge that it would be declined and will be settled by a tribunal at a cheaper price. And his tapping up of Ramos was equally disgraceful - pot and kettle spring to mind. He’s just frustrated because he knows that Berbatov wants out.
this blog is nothing but hypocritical drivel. A sad attempt to justify another fergie hypocritical moment
what a joke
Please tell me how John Bostock has anything to do with Fergie trying to unsettle Berbatov. Nothing illegal happened, and tapping up young players is a united speciality!!! Unfortunatly the system is not correct but thats not Levys fault, and is a ridiculous defence of Fergesons blatent double standards.
What a stupid ill-thought out post - pretty much typical of the mancs. Your blue nosed manager has broken the rules by expressing his interest publicly and as it seems Levy has additional proof he will to win the case.
The rules of the Premier league are at the following link:
http://www.premierleague.com/staticFile … 486,00.pdf
You should look for section K. Unquestionably the scots acoholic and the spaniard are guilty of breaking these rules. End of story . I suggest that the embarrassment is Fergusons but as he is neither a bright person nor one with an ounce of class and morals about him, no doubt he’ll feel hard done by.
I am not a Spurs fan but I know that they are far richer than most realize and don’t need to sell anyone so won’t be forced into it. Blue nose thinks that time will work for him but this will only be so for Spurs and Real Madrid. It is becoming clearer that Ferguson knows he will loose Ronaldo and will have to face up to missing out on berbatov too. All because Spurs have stood up to him like Villa have done to benitez. Long may it continue.
I have also seen the premier league rules in the handbook and it is true man united and liverpool have broken the rules. This could lead to a points deduction for both sides as one of a number of possible penalties.
To all you pathetic yids getting on your high horses, here’s a quote dirrect from Berba, just days after he signed for you;
“When I only had six goals in the Bundesliga last season they said we like you and we want to be buy you. But Leverkusen said, ‘No, we don’t want you to go’. Over a period of six months Tottenham kept saying, ‘We like you, we want you to come here’.
So that’ll be the club he belonged too (Leverkusen) openly saying they don’t want to sell but Spurs and Mr Glass House brick chucker Levy, keep on telling the player that they wanted to sign him. Now explain to me how the situation is different now?
