Second out of the hat were our friends from Glasgow….Celtic FC.
Incredibly, given United’s many connections with both Glasgow clubs, United have only played The Bhoys once before in competitive fixtures - in the Phase 1 matches of the 2006-2007 Champions League campaign.
Celtic were of course the first British team to win the European Cup - back in 1967, before United became the first English side to win the trophy the following year.
In 2006-2007 when United and Celtic went head to head in the Phase 1 matches, the Glaswegian side made it through to the last 16 of the competition where they were knocked out by AC Milan, who, of course, went on to knock out United in the semi-final.
One of the Celtic players to look out for in the upcoming fixtures will of course be the Japanese midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura who scored a peach of a free-kick for Celtic to grab all three points for his side in the away leg of the Phase 1 matches in 2006.
