Chelsea Crybaby Terry Given The Nod Over United’s Accidental Steward-kicker Ferdinand

England’s Glorious Captain John Terry…

Champions League Final bottler John Terry, who cried his eyes out like a toddler following his penalty mishap, has been handed the captain’s armband for England’s 2010 Word Cup campaign.

Terry, who previously wore the captain’s armband during England’s ill-fated Euro 2008 qualification campaign, will get his first run out as the new permanent captain during England’s friendly against the Czech republic this Wednesday.

Terry was clearly chuffed and somewhat surprised to discover Capello had selected him above Rio Ferdinand:

“For me to get it above the likes of him (Ferdinand) and the other players in the squad is a great honour.”

“I’d never given up on the armband and never will do,” he said.

“I’d heard the whispers Rio got the armband so I was a little bit shocked, but I’ve got to make the most of it.”

Ferdinand will no doubt be bitterly disappointed having conducted an energetic PR campaign during the summer designed to rehabilitate his dubious image. Whilst Rio has won over the majority of United fans in the past couple of years with his virtually flawless displays*, the public at large still perceives him as a bit of a wideboy.

Capello suggested the selection had come down to a matter of ‘personality’ with Terry pipping Ferdinand on this count:

“It was not easy for me to choose because they are very good players.

“The big personality of John was the reason I chose John, but Rio is very important to the team.”

Magnanimous words from Capello - quite where that big personality was when he bottled his penalty in the Luzhniki rain and blubbed on the turf like a teenage girl, is a mystery we’re all left to ponder.

In the final analysis the decision may have simply rested on an appraisal of the severity of this pair’s respective misdemeanours - with missing a drugs test, belting a ball into an old biddy in the crowd and (accidentally, honest) kicking a steward ranked more severe than abusing the memory of 9/11 victims, parking your Bentley in disabled spaces and urinating in nightclubs.

Anyway, hard lines Rio.

* Own goals away to Portsmouth not included….

Rio doesnt have the leadership qualities, he can kick only ladies. And May be capello is doubting that rio is a drug adict and will be caught during the world cup. I think the ideal captain would be Steven. Any ways good luck terry. Hope you will get the world cup to England. Be careful with he may score a own goal…. better put him on bench.. :D

Terry was chosen purely because he was the best man for the job!

with regards to the comments made about him, such as, “crybaby” etc, - wasn’t that the “winker” i remember seeing stretched out face down on the turf crying his eyes out!!? You “Reds” should be thanking JT! you would never have won it without him! - anyway we’ll take both the big titles from you this season, so change your name from the “red devils” to the “caretakers”.

Accidental steward kicker! And before anyone says anything, I’m no chelsea fan, Evra was right to do what he did. Terry’s a cunnt, but a good leader, either way, England wont win a fuck1ng thing as long as we keep thinking we’re the best nation at football.
