United’s Wes Brown was arguably his side’s best player in a worryingly disjointed England performance against the Czech Republic at Wembley this evening.

The Czechs took the lead through Milan Baros before Brown equalised shortly before half time, powerfully heading home a Beckham corner.
In a performance otherwise lacking in quality or cohesion Brown impressed down the right flank, performing his defensive duties well and overlapping the attack with David Beckham whenever the opportunity arose.

Jankulovski put the Czechs back in front shortly after the restart with a sublime free kick which left a poor ly-positioned David James with no chance.

Joe Cole, saved Capello and new captain John Terry’s blushes by scrambling an equaliser in extra time to give England a scarcely-deserved draw.
